348/366 - "Birthday Girl"

Today was Sue's birthday, you can ask her which one.  The kids and I took her out to dinner, came home had some cake, and then opened up some presents.  I told her yesterday that she would be the photo for today so she was prepared and a good sport about it.  Happy Birthday Sue!

344/366 - "Changing Bokeh"

I was searching for creative ideas to execute during the last days of this project and Jim suggested that I change my bokeh.  I had never heard of that, so I searched and found this link.  It is a pretty easy process and I decided to do a star as the backdrop for this little wooden Nativity.  I told Jim that I was posting this today and he sent me an example he did which I posted below.

341/366 - "My Piles"

I am what they call a "Piler."  Meaning that I have a pile of things here and a pile of things there.  It is my way of organizing my life.  Sue encourages me to clean up my piles, as she is anti-pile.  The shot for tonight is staged and very representative of the ever changing pile of camera gear that has been on the table behind our couch.  I took this to thank Sue for her patience during my year long quest and wanted to remind her that there are only 25 days remaining.

Today was Harper's 3rd birthday.  Hard to believe that she is growing fast.  It is also the day that Sue starts decorating for Christmas, and I was able to get Harper to sit down in front of a small Christmas tree.

325/366 - "Reflective Allegheny"

The one nice thing about the time change is that the golden hour comes a little earlier in the day.  I was able to grab a few exposures on the way home from work today.  This is looking at the Fox Chapel Yacht Club.  Since it is getting colder with less wind there is little boat traffic making a nice quiet reflective river.

Jonah's school had a fundraiser at the local Barnes & Noble store and the K through 4th grade classes entertained the crowd by singing a few songs.

This is taken from my window while sitting in a bit of traffic in Blawnox on my way to work.  With the time change last week I now get to see the sun come up which is a welcome change.

305/366 - "Carving Delayed"

We were going to carve pumpkins on Monday or Tuesday night for tonights originally scheduled Halloween.  However, due to Hurricane Sandy just about every Trick-or-Treat in the area has been rescheduled for Saturday.  Therefore, we will be carving these babies on Friday night.

This morning the sunrise was particularly nice.  While Jonah and I were sitting in traffic on the Hulton Bridge on our way to school, I was able to snap this photo out the passenger side window.  I love when the river looks perfectly still.

I did a similar shot back on day number 9, and I thought I should redo the shot with the colorful leaves on the trees.  I still don't care for these trees and I am always working to get them replaced with something else.

293/366 - "Fort Pitt Bridge"

I was sitting in traffic and was able to get a photo as I exited the Fort Pitt Tunnel.  If only I had the wide angle lens with me instead of the 50mm.  Maybe next time.

286/366 - "Stay Focused"

Today on the way home I decided to take a photo purposely out of focus.  At 286 days in I need to stay focused to get through this year of photos.  I am to the point where I wake up in the morning and can't remember the photo that was taken the day before.  This is becoming a one big blur.

Jonah received some Lincoln Logs for his birthday and Harper decided to dump them and play in the bucket.  She was having a blast so I decided to take my shot for the day.  Once the camera was pointed at her the face went stone cold serious.  I think this year of photos is getting to her.  Lucky for her and the rest of the family there is not many days left.

So over the last several weeks I have been taking a camera to work so I have it for any random photo opportunities.  While Jonah and I were on our way home I rolled down my window at a stop light and was able to get this landscape looking across the river towards Blawnox.  I may have to start a series called Drive By Landscapes.

Our pediatrician is a part of the Children's Hospital network, and i their office there are entry rugs that have different brightly colored handprints on them.  While Harper and I were waiting our turn today I noticed these rugs and instantly thought of our homemade artwork.  The kids made this last November and it is proudly displayed in our kitchen.

I was sitting at a red light on my home from work when I noticed a food truck getting repaired.  I liked the way the sky and light was reflecting off of the aluminum.

I was sitting at a stop light, looked up through my sunroof, and noticed this pole with all the wires.  I thought it was interesting so I took a shot.  I am usually trying to avoid wires in my shots.
