151/366 - "Basil"

(F/6.3, 80mm, 1/60 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

Sue has some herbs growing in pots on the back porch.  This is her basil plant and it is doing quite well.

150/366 - "Cloudmaggedon"

(F/2.8, 3.85mm, 1/120 sec, ISO 100, iPhone 4)

Tonight we went on our normal Tuesday night bicycle ride.  It started out well the weather was quite nice.  We made it to the Fineview Overlook and the clouds turned dark, very dark.  We continued on and about 10 minutes later the clouds opened up.  It rained and rained.  When we were crossing the 31st bridge I turned to look back and noticed "Cloudmaggedon".  I pulled over took my iPhone out of the ziplock, and attempted to dry it off (hahaha).  I took some photographs and this is the best of the bunch.  I hate that the water on the camera is blurring the portions of the shot, but I love the clouds.

149/366 - "Memorial Day Parade"

(F/4, 80mm, 1/640 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

I think we may have found Harper's favorite activity EVER!  She loves a good parade.  Lucky for her she lives in a town that loves parades too.

148/366 - "Cake Time"

(F/4, 97mm, 1/40 sec, ISO 1600, Canon 5D Mk II)

This afternoon we went over to a friends house for a picnic, pool, and some birthday cake.  Harper loves cake!

147/366 - "Vacant House"

(F/8, 19mm, 5 Exposures, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

This house is across the street from my mom's house on Wheeling Island.  As far back as I can remember, at least 20 years, this house has been empty and for sale.

146/366 - "Graduation Day!"

(F/3.5, 50mm, 1/60 sec, ISO 800, Canon 5D Mk II)

Today was graduation day for Jonah.  This is his teacher, Brandon, announcing that Jonah has graduated and ready for kindergarten.  As you can see Jonah is very excited.

145/366 - "Little Bunny Foo Foo"

(F/4, 105mm, 1/80 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

Tonight after dinner I went for a walk with the kids around the block a few times.  As we walked, Harper sang "Little Bunny Foo Foo" the entire way.  When we returned home, there was a bunny rabbit in the neighbors yard.  Harper was super excited that she found Foo Foo.

144/366 - "Cloud Mountain"

(F/8, 65mm, 5 Exposures, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

Tonight after dinner we were all on the back porch when I noticed some really cool cloud formations.  They reminded me of mountains and I figured I could get some bracketed photos to play around with HDR Efex Pro, which I got for my birthday.  I think there will be many more HDR images to come as this was lots of fun and I have a ton to learn on how to process them.

143/366 - "Fineview Overlook"

(F/2.8, 3.85mm, 1/750 sec, ISO 80, iPhone4)

Tonights bike ride took us to the neighborhood of Fineview and we stopped for a minute at the Overlook for about 5 minutes for everyone to catch their breathe and take a picture.

142/366 - "Rope"

(F/2.8, 100mm, 1/25 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

There seems to be several themes that other photographers follow on Mondays.  These are things like Monochrome Monday, Minimalistic Monday, or Macro Monday.  Today I was lucky enough to figure out how to fit all three into one photograph.

141/366 - "Peek-a-Boo"

(F/4, 58mm, 1/125 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

Yesterday afternoon I was on the front porch with Harper, Jonah, and Sue.  Harper started playing peek-a-boo through the porch railing with me and I snapped off a few photos.

140/366 - "Tall Buildings"

(F/8, 24mm, 1/125 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

We met mom and Gary downtown and then took the "T" over to the North Shore for dinner.  After dinner we took the same trip back and exited on Grant at the Steel Plaza Station.  When I looked up this is what I saw, so I snapped a few shots before crossing the street.

139/366 - "DiCarlos - How To:"

Tonight was make your own pizza night in our house.  Sue and the kids went the Boboli route.  I still had some leftover DiCarlos from our trip to Wheeling for Mother's Day.  If you weren't aware I grew up in Wheeling.  Wheeling is known for a few things and DiCarlos is one of them.  There is much debate about which DiCarlos is the best.  In my mind there is no debate....the best is DiCarlos in Elm Grove.  Heating up leftover DiCarlos to the untrained can be disastrous.  So I have provided a "How To" on the correct steps in heating up your leftovers.
  1. Place your leftover DiCarlos on a sheet of aluminum foil and turn on your grill to low.
  2. Place the aluminum foil and pizza on the grill.
  3. After 10 to 15 minutes remove the pizza from the grill.  You may want to check the bottom every 5 minutes as your grill may be hotter than mine.  Top your DiCarlos with official DiCarlos cheese in a bag.
  4. EAT!!!

138/366 - "Bombs Away"

(F/4, 105mm, 1/80 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

This afternoon we went to the dentist and Jonah picked a parachute man out of the treasure chest.  After dinner he played outside throwing it off the back deck.

137/366 - "Rain Flowers"

(F/16, 100mm, 1/8 sec, ISO 200, Canon 5D Mk II)

Tonight it rained a little and after it stopped I ran outside with my camera and tripod to grab a few shots before the rain drops dried up.

136/366 - "Flat Tire"

(F/9, 100mm, 1/4 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

Tonight on my bicycle ride I had a flat tire next to the Heinz Lofts on River Road.  Flat tires suck!  I fixed it, made it back home, and then took some photographs of my greasy fingers.  This is the one I like the best.

135/366 - "Potty Time"

(F/1.4, 50mm, 1/50 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

I have had this photograph in my head for some time now, but every time this situation arises Sue tells me I should give Harper some privacy.  I have to go through this whole thing about how I am only going to shoot the feet.  Well today after school and before Sue was home from work I was able to get my shot.

134/366 - "Mother's Day"

(F/2.2, 50mm, 1/50 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

Today being Mother's Day I figured I should take a photograph of my mom.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

133/366 - "Hanging Out"

(F/4, 24mm, 1/400 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

We were supposed to go kayaking but the river was moving a little to fast, so instead we decided to head to the South Side Works area of town to walk around, shop, and drink some beers.  We had a great time especially at OTB, which is where this is taken.

132/366 - "Surprise"

(F/2, 50mm, 1/50 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

Sue got me today.  As an early birthday present Sue worked with Monica to arrange a kid free weekend and Matt and Monica are in town for some fun.  Awesome!

Best wife ever.

131/366 - "Trapped"

(F/4, 21mm, 1/125 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

I was feeling a little trapped today.  Thankfully it has passed.

130/366 - "Windows to the Sky"

(F/4, 17mm, 1/2000 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

I was searching for some inspiration this evening and saw that on Google+ someone tagged their photograph with #windowwednesday.  That made me think about our house, and how much I love the windows in the back.  While we were outside on the deck after dinner I took a few shots with the wide angle.

129/366 - "I Seeee You"

(F/4, 100mm, 1/125 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

I was looking around the house for something to photograph when I spotted one of Harper's baby dolls.  I figured I could mess with the lighting and give it a creepy look.  I think I may have to print this one and hang it in her bedroom.

128/366 - "Sue"

(F/2.2, 50mm, 1/20 sec, ISO 200, Canon 5D Mk II)

After dinner we went for a walk and it started to thunder, so we started to back home and played on the porch.  While Sue and I were sitting on the porch I was able to snap a few photographs of Sue.  She planted the hanging baskets and I have a feeling she was admiring her work.  This year I am confident the  flowers will make it through the summer.

Super Moon - Jim

Jim sent over a guest post.  Looks like he didn't have to deal with the clouds that I did last night.  Nice "Super Moon".

127/366 - "Flower Power"

(F/16, 100mm, 1/8 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

Today was an outside day.  While Jonah and Harper were playing, I was figuring out what to photograph.  I setup my tripod over this flower and I was waiting for the breeze to stop.  As the flower was beginning to settle a bee happened to appear in my frame.  I snapped about five photographs before he flew away.

126/366 - "Super Sky"

(F/16, 70mm, 77 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

While I was waiting for the clouds to clear up I was playing with long exposure with different focal lengths.  The clouds never really cleared up before I went to bed, so I feel that I have more of a "Super Sky", not a "Super Moon".

125/366 - "May the Fourth"

(F/4, 100mm, 1/500 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

May the Fourth be with you!

124/366 - "Cracking Up"

(F/2.8, 100mm, 1/60 sec, ISO 800, Canon 5D Mk II)

After we got home after work / school Harper was playing with the camera.  I decided to grab my camera and play her game.  She was cracking up taking pictures and I was able to capture that moment nicely.

123/366 - "Flops"

(F/2.8, 100mm, 1/200 sec, ISO 100, Canon 5D Mk II)

The weather the past couple days seems to be back on track and in the right direction.  I love the warm weather and the change that comes with it.

122/366 - "The Third"

(F/4, 50mm, 1/10 sec, ISO 400, Canon 5D Mk II)

So I knew that at some point I would have to start doing several self portraits for this project and I have been trying to come up with an idea.  So today is the day and this is the idea and the title has a dual meaning.  I am officially a third of the way through this project and since my dad was Jr., that make me the Third (III).
